Finding a foundation that truly matches your skin tone is like finding a needle in the hay. So damn difficult! Especially if you have oily, acne-prone skin like me. A couple months ago, my friend mentioned about Maybelline product that would give a great matte look on my face. It’s Maybelline Dream Matte Mousse Foundation. The Maybelline Dream Matte Mousse foundation has always been a product on the shelf that I’ve fo sho been curious about. With high hopes, I bought this foundie last week. Keep reading…..
I bought it for IDR80,000 (around $8.00) in a local cosmetics shop. If you buy it on Maybelline booth at supermarket or department store, the price would be around IDR95,000 ($9.50). A bit more expensive, I believe.
The foundation is put in a glass jar with a hard plastic lid. The jar is not that big but it is quite heavy. I think they use a very thick glass material for it. Some bloggers who reviewed this product complained about the packaging that is not travel friendly. As for me, I don’t mind the glass package since the size isn’t that big so I still can put it safely in my makeup pouch. At the back, you can see the list of ingredients used in the product, along with the expired date.
The ingredients, I’m too lazy to write them all >.<
The texture is exactly like mousse, you know, the one that you usually eat for dessert. I took a bit of the product with my fingertip and it felt like dipping my finger into chocolate cream. Fortunately, the smell is not sweet, otherwise I would lick it.
the texture is like chocolate mousse, yummy!
Maybelline Claims that the Maybelline Dream Matte Mousse Foundation has:
1. Perfect Coverage for 100% Velvet Matte Perfection
2. Ideal for Normal to Oily Skin
3. Won’t Clog Pores/Non-Comedogenic
After some considerations, I finally bought the darkest shade, which is Natural Beige. I really have no idea what the number printed on the lid means. It is ‘medium 2.5’ The best way to apply it is by using your fingertips because the heat from your finger will help the product to blend well on your skin. Anyway, let’s put this product on tests. First, I tested it on my hand and blended it. The result was amazing! It gave a matte finish and it felt light on my skin.
Next, I applied it on my face. As usual, before I applied it, I prepped my face with moisturizer and face primer. What I love from this foundation is the flawless look it gives me after I blend evenly. However, you have to be very careful when applying it. Too much product will make you look as if you are wearing a mask. That’s why I always start with a very little product because I only need light to medium coverage. I don’t even use any concealer. Let’s see the result on the picts!

The close-up picture above shows that it covers my imperfections, though some are still obvious (but I don’t mind at all). It also truly gives me an absolute velvet matte finish, which I love so much.
I put this product on an extreme test the next day. It was last Friday to be exact. I applied it around 12 p.m. at noon and I went to the office under a very hot, sunny day. Surprisingly, it stayed perfect when I arrived at the office (it was around 12.45 p.m). At 5 o’clock in the afternoon, I was done with my teaching and when I looked at the mirror, my face stayed matte. WOW! It means the staying power lasts for 5-6 hours.
It’s not all. After teaching, I and my BFF Shapie went to the mall and I also met my husband there for dinner. We went home around 9 p.m and it surprised me that my face stayed matte. IT IS AMAZING! This is basically a miracle for my super duper oily skin.
Now we come to the final verdict….
What I love about it:
– It definitely give a velvet matte finish.
– Great staying power.
– Gives medium coverage and covers imperfections
– Suitable for those with oily skin.
– The shade is perfect for my skin tone.
– Cheap price for good quality.
What I don’t like:
– The package is not travel-friendly.
– Need to be extra careful whilst blending the product.
After using this product for a while, I think this has become one of my favourite foundations. However, I have no idea whether I will buy this again or not since I still have a long wishlist of foundations. Finally, I will show you my photos using Maybelline Dream Matte Mousse foundation.
